Common Questions

Everything families usually want to know before reaching out. Don't see your question? Just call or text — I'm happy to help.

IHSS (In-Home Supportive Services) is a California state program that pays for in-home care for eligible elderly, blind, or disabled individuals so they can safely remain at home instead of moving to a care facility. If your loved one qualifies, the state pays the caregiver directly — meaning there's no out-of-pocket cost for the family. I am an approved IHSS provider, so I can work directly with your loved one's IHSS case.
To apply for IHSS, you can contact your county's Social Services office or call the IHSS helpline. A social worker will visit your loved one at home to assess their care needs and determine eligibility. Eligibility is generally based on age (65+), disability, or blindness, along with income and residency requirements. I'm happy to help guide you through what to expect during this process — just give me a call.
Yes! In addition to IHSS clients, I also work with families who pay privately. Private pay allows for more flexibility in scheduling and the types of services provided, since it isn't limited to what IHSS covers. I'm happy to discuss rates and a care plan that fits your family's needs and budget.
Yes. I have undergone a thorough background check and can provide documentation upon request. I also have professional references available from past clients and families. Your loved one's safety and your peace of mind are my top priorities.
I am specially trained in dementia and Alzheimer's care, which means I understand how to communicate patiently and effectively with clients experiencing memory loss, manage behavioral changes with calm and empathy, and create a structured, safe routine that reduces confusion and anxiety. This type of care requires a specific skill set, and it's one I take very seriously.
Absolutely. I am trained in non-ambulatory care, which includes assisting clients who have limited mobility or are wheelchair-bound. This includes safe transfers, repositioning to prevent pressure sores, assistance with bathing and personal care, and using any necessary medical equipment.
I am based in Tulare County, CA. Please call or text me at (559) 310-9547 to confirm whether I cover your specific location.
Scheduling is flexible and discussed on a case-by-case basis depending on the client's needs. Please reach out directly to discuss availability and we'll find a schedule that works for your family.
In any medical emergency, I will immediately call 911 and then notify the family or designated emergency contacts. I am trained to remain calm, follow emergency protocols, and stay with the client until help arrives. We will also discuss and document an emergency action plan at the start of care.
Getting started is easy — just call or text me at (559) 310-9547 or email gma.glynda@gmail.com. We'll have a friendly conversation about your loved one's needs, discuss scheduling and payment options, and set up a time to meet. There's no obligation — just a conversation to see if we're a good fit.
